The Philosophy of Implementation of Rubrics in WI Courses
Perpetual discussion surrounds the value of rubrics to assess writing assignments in the undergraduate classroom. In this workshop, Dr. Martha Kelly will begin with a discussion of the benefits and drawbacks of rubric use in the WI classroom, and then she will speak to rubrics she uses in her classes, especially noting what she includes on those rubrics and why she finds these elements important to her assignments’ aims. We will end by discussing a variety of writing-focused rubrics, providing a few rubric models for the participants to take with them.
Coffee and water will be available. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
