During the Summer of 2017, Chemistry Professor Rainer Glaser and Campus Writing Program Director Amy Lannin traveled to China to work with faculty at a variety of universities and teach courses at the Northwestern Polytechnic University in Xi’an, China. One of the courses was on English scientific writing for publication. About 15 faculty from various departments participated to work on their own academic papers. Glaser and his doctoral student, Kaidi Yang, taught a graduate course on scientific writing. Lannin led a series of workshops on teaching with writing and writing-across-the-curriculum.
Lannin also presented to faculty at the Northwestern Agriculture and Forestry University in Yangling. This is the home of Dr. Gao Li and Dr. Liping Wang, who were visiting scholars to MU in 2014-2015. Lannin also met with writing scholar Wu Dan, Deputy Dean, School of English Education at Xi’an International Studies University.
