2026 Theme: Writing “Above the Table“
We invite 15-60-minute presentations (panel, demo, talk, roundtable) that take up this theme
in any and all ways that resonate in your field, research, classroom, and writing communities.

Presenters will be notified of their acceptance during the week of Sep. 28, 2026. Any writer affiliated with Mizzou is welcome to submit a proposal.
The Week Of Writing is a weeklong celebration of writing in all of its forms, stages, uses, functions, approaches, and levels of joy (and challenge). We are interested in hearing how undergraduate students, graduate students, post-docs, faculty and staff use, grapple with and/or celebrate writing across campus. From the Humanities to STEM, in any language or form, writing is an act that unites us all in academia (and maybe as people?). The WOW is our time to acknowledge, learn about, and celebrate it all.

Stop by and see us on Lowry Mall between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. as we kick-off W.O.W. with hot beverages, tasty treats, MU sweatshirt giveaways, and the opportunity to celebrate writing and all it brings to our lives every day.
Writer’s Bloc | Monday, October 19 | 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Faculty, stop by Conley House for a couple of hours of dedicated writing time. Bring your project, find a comfortable spot, and make some progress on your writing.
Grad Student Writing Retreat | Tuesday, October 20 | 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Register Here!
Set aside time for your writing – whether it is dissertation work, homework, resume building, or any other kind of writing! Lunch will be provided, along with warm beverages and water!
